The Large Vessels take on another presence. Once you move from a form that you can hold in your hand to a form that you can embrace, it alters the experience. There has been an evolution in this series from just a traditional pot form to more of an anthropomorphic form.
These pieces range from a form that stands on its own to a piece accompanied by a hand carved wooden stand. These silent guardians are powerful and stoic by their scale and finish.
All of these materials utilized in these pieces are local. This gives them an inherent link to the area. Most of these pieces are fired in my wood/soda kiln with wood found locally, further strengthening the connection to the area. These pieces because of their connection to their geography, create their own folklore. A folklore that describes the geological make up of the area and its topography.
